Jeremiah J. BEST was born on April 18, 1825 in North Carolina.  He resided between 1858 and 1860 in Tyler County, TX.  He was a Farmer in 1860 in Town Bluff, Tyler County, TX.  He served in the military about 1863 in Confederate Soldier, 11th Battalion, Texas Volunteer Calvary & Infantry (Spaight's), Co. D..  He was a Farmer in 1880 in Town Bluff, Tyler County, TX.  He resided in 1880 in Town Bluff, Tyler County, TX.  He died on April 17, 1896.  He was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Tyler County, TX.

He was married to Martha F. before 1847.  Martha F. was born on November 21, 1830 in Florida.  She resided between 1858 and 1860 in Tyler County, TX.  She  kept house in 1880 in Town Bluff, Tyler County, TX.  She resided in 1880 in Town Bluff, Tyler County, TX.  She died on November 6, 1914.  She was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Tyler County, TX.

According to One World Family Tree Jeremiah Best was born in 18 April 1825 in early County Georgia, died 17 April 1896 Spurger, Tyler, Texas. Was the son of John best and Sarah Brown. Married Martha Fluellen Read on October 10th 1846 in Early County Georgia - she was born November 21, 1830 in Gadsden Florida and died October 6, 1914 in Spurger.

On muster roll for July and August 1863 - this muster roll says he enlisted on May 3, 1863 at Virginia Point for a period of three years. Was listed as absent Provost guard at Nibllets Bluff May 26, 1863. Listed on muster roll for January and February 1864 -this muster roll says he enlisted May 3, 1863 at Virginia Point; was listed as absent - sick left on the march January 12, 1864. Listed on muster roll from March 1864- was sick January 12, 1864. Was listed on company D muster roll for April 1864 - listed as sick since January 12, 1864. Listed on muster roll for company D. for June 1864 - was sick since January 64, left on March from Louisiana. Was listed on company D muster rolls for July 1864 - sick since January 12, 1864 at hospital and Sabine Pass. Was listed on muster roll for Company D. August 1864, left sick on the march January 12, 1864. Was listed on company D. muster roll for September 1864 - sick, left in Louisiana January 12, 1864. Was listed on the company D. muster roll for October 1864 - sick, January 12, 1864 left on the march.

She married MATTHEW STRAUD "BUD" HUGHES 23 Jul 1874 in Tyler County, Texas, son of CALEB HUGHES and ELISABETH MORRISON. He was born 21 Dec 1845 in Clarke Co., Mississippi, and died 01 Sep 1898 in McLennan Co., Texas.
