  • Lt. James F. (Jim) MAYO was born on September 11, 1837 in Alabama.

    Texas Volunteer Calvary & Infantry (Spaight's), Co. D..

  • He died on December 15, 1885 in Tyler County, TX.  
  • He was buried in Beech Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Tyler County,

    shows service in Company D, 11th Battalion, Texas Volunteer Cavalry
    and Infantry (Spaight's) and Company F, 21st Regiment, Texas Infantry.  
    He joined the 11th as a sargent rose to first lieutenant in Company D,
    Spaight's Battalion.  Then when the 21st was formed from the 11th
    continued as a 1st Lt.

    He was married to Charlotte (Lottie) SPURLOCK (daughter of William
    Woodruff SPURLOCK and Rebecca (Becky) HOOKS) on August 1, 1865
    in Tyler County, TX.  Charlotte (Lottie) SPURLOCK was born on April 14,
    1846 in Early County, GA.  She resided between April 14, 1846 and 1852
    in Early County, GA.  She resided between February 1853 and 1880 in
    Tyler County, TX.  She was keeping house in 1880 in Tyler County, TX.  
    She died on March 26, 1914 in Tyler County, TX.  She was buried in
    Beech Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Tyler County, TX.
